Wind Power Residential Off Grid Systems

Wind Power for homes that are not connected to the power grid. Our systems consist of Wind Turbines and components that transform the wind's energy into electricity to power the home.

As the fastest growing energy source in the world, wind energy is now a popular and mainstream choice for electricity. In areas with sufficient wind, wind power provides the most economical source of green energy. ETA sells turbines by Southwest Windpower, the world leader in small wind turbine manufacturing, sales, and exports. With their advanced and innovative design, they offer the highest power output, the lowest amount of noise, and the most affordable prices on the market. These systems create no waste or pollution, and since the energy comes from the wind, there is never a need to refuel. In addition, the battery bank provides electricity during extended periods of no wind.

Depending on where you live, current government and power company incentives can cut system costs significantly. ETA's buying power as a distributor of several major brands of wind turbines and components insures that you will get the right products at the best price. As conventional energy costs continue to increase, so do your savings. This is a long term investment that can increase the value of your property.

ETA staffs the most experienced engineers, who have been working with renewable energy for over 30 years, and have designed thousands of systems. With their wide range of products, ETA can design a custom system that fits your needs. Everything ETA does comes from the philosophy of ecological responsibility and sustainability. Combine that with engineering expertise, and you are guaranteed the most complete, efficient, cost effective, environmentally sound system. Most systems come with an easy user interface that provides readouts on power production, consumption, and more. With off grid systems designed by ETA, anyone can easily reap the benefits of this clean, safe, and inexhaustible source of energy

Off Grid System Components and Electricity Flow.
There are 4 components to most off grid systems: the wind turbines, the towers, the power inverter, and the battery bank. All wiring is included. Remote controls are also available.

We provide many options to create a customized system to fit your needs. We offer a wide variety of component brands and models. Click on any component for detailed product information. Towers may be purchased (by ETA or a licensed contractor) near installation location to minimize shipping costs.

Are wind turbines right for me?

Wind energy is not for everyone. Your site must have enough wind, and be free from wind obstructions.

The site for your turbine must be free from obstructions within a 250 ft. radius, and you should be able to locate a tower where the top of it would be at least 20 feet above any surrounding object within that 250 foot radius.

The turbine must also be situated in a location with an average wind speed minimum of 9 MPH or about 4.2 M/S for your small wind system to be practical. There are different ways to determine if your site has enough wind resources.

Wind maps are available for most states. Most of these maps have a 1sq km resolution. Any data that is a class two or higher means you have enough wind at your site.

View the Arizona Resource Map.

Visit State Wind Resource Maps to see your state’s wind map.

Or you can check your local airport or weather station.

You can also look at the landscape and nearby trees for a fairly accurate determination of site wind speed. In areas of relatively smooth country, the winds are constant regardless of where you are. Hilly areas vary from location to location. Below is what is called the Grigs Putmum wind energy index. By looking at the trees on your property and how they may have been deformed by the wind, you can determine the resource in the area. Keep in mind, any data that is a class two or higher means you have enough wind at your site.

Wind power and solar power are complementary in the sense that when a wind resource is not available, sunshine often is.  If both resources are available, then a hybrid system is the more economical approach.  A hybrid system uses fewer batteries and the battery bank is cycled less, which results in longer battery lifetimes and lower costs.  If you already have a wind turbine, consider adding solar panels to your system for extra dependability and long term cost savings.

ETA Engineering also carries accessories for Southwest Windpower wind turbines, including professional engineer certified tower kits, a variety of wind power and solar charge controllers and an assortment of water pumps.
