Solar Pool Pumping is one of the most cost-effective
and logical uses of solar electricity. Using a few solar panels,
panel mounting, and controller, the DC pool pump will have
enough electricity to run all day using free, clean electricity
from the sun. This is good news, because, swimming pools
are usually the second largest and most expensive electrical
load (after air conditioning) on your electric bill. These
systems completely remove that cost.
ETA Engineering
sells
everything you need in an all-in-one kit to run your pool entirely off
solar electricity.
|

Everything you need to
pump a 16,000 to 25,000 gallon pool without plugging it in (except
mounting structure).

Real Savings.
A typical pool pump
(1.5 HP A/C) uses 2000 watts. If the pump is run 8 hours a day, that is
a total of 480kWh per month! A 3000 watt grid-tie system
on a home in Arizona will produce the same amount of electricity, but a
pool pumping kit is a MUCH more economical solution. At 4 hours a day,
the typical pump uses 240kWh per month, as much as a 1500 watt grid-tie
system produces. With this load permanently removed from your home, the
savings add up quickly!
Maximum Cleaning.
- The DC pool pump is more efficient than the standard AC pool
pump already attached to a power grid tied pool pump. A 3/4 HP
DC pump is generally capable of replacing a 1 to 1.5 HP AC motor.
- Summertime swimming season requires more pumping, and naturally,
with more hours of sunlight, your pool pump puts in the work needed
to keep your pool clean.
- ETA designs the system for optimal efficiency through the choice
of the pump and motor combination combined with the photovoltaic
array. We assemble many sizes of pool pumps, and offer several
brands and sizes or solar panels and solar modules. Pumping systems
are available from 1/2 HP to 1 HP.
- The EMPT (Electronic Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller
works like an automatic transmission, and maintains maximum output
from your solar panels (modules).
- If you still need more pumping power, or need to run your pump
at night, simply turn on the pump already installed on your pool
for an extra boost.
- Optional tracker mounting positions your solar panels (modules)
so they follow the sun and are always absorbing the maximum amount
of solar energy available.

How does it work?
Solar photovoltaic
(solar electric) modules produce electricity which is used directly by
a high-efficiency DC pump motor custom coupled to a standard swimming
pool pump.
How much?
The most common size
system has a 3/4 HP motor and 720 Watts (peak) of solar power. This
system is generally capable of replacing a 1 to 1.5 HP AC
motor (depending on service factor).
We offer many options.
We have several products and can make many combinations to customize a
system to match your needs. Below are samples of fairly common solar
pool pumping solutions. Call us today for specific details
