Matrix Photowatt Solar Technologies

Photowatt Matrix Solar Technologies has developed its own process
for manufacturing multi-crystalline silicon called POLIX®.
In this process silicon is melted and then forced to grow in a given
direction, from the bottom to the top, which gives the solar cells
large-grain columnar structure. This unique crystal growth process
with the high electrical efficiency and stability over time minimizes
the quantity of material used to make high efficiency solar cells.
These cells are then packed into a very reliable package with a rugged
aluminum frame designed for decades of reliable use. Sales limited

Photowatt modules use multi crystalline technology. The 200 micron
solar cells are individually characterized and electronically matched
prior to interconnection. Encapsulation beneath high transmission
tempered glass is accomplished using an advanced, UV resistant thermal
setting plastic. The encapsulation, ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA),
cushions the operating characteristics of the solar cell under virtually
any climatic conditions. The rear surface of the module is completely
sealed from moisture and mechanical damage by a continuous high
strength polymer sheet.
The glass/tedlar construction of the module minimizes weight while
providing a durable, protective environment for the solar cells.
A double glass version is also available upon request.
